I just love this time of year… the chill in the air, the gleam in the eyes of kids as they walk by department stores filled with lights and bright shiny objects, the smell of cinnamon and pine, and of course… the gifts. But, we all know that it’s not really about the gifts… it’s about being together and just spending time with our loved ones. .. ok ok, so the gifts help a little.

So, the other day I was at the grocery store wearing one of my super cool geek watches from Normal Watches. Anyways, this lady was right next to me in line staring at my watch. After 6 minutes I finally decided I’d had enough of her voyeurism and I asked her if she needed the time… I was just a little creeped out she could not stop staring at my arm!

So, she said “No thanks, I don’t need the time but I was trying to figure out what your watch says.” Here I am… in line at the grocery store… with about 5 people staring at me waiting for my response to this sweet older woman whose curiosity was now making me blush a bit because of course the one I had to be wearing on that particular day was the ‘OMFG’ watch!

I stated to her politely that it reads O.M.F.G. She then asks, “well what does this mean??” I could tell she was a little irrational not understanding and the people around her were starting to giggle a bit so I stated that it just means, “Oh my fregging goodness” (I could not think of a nicer or better way to state the meaning… after all it can have different meanings right??) and then it happened… she kinda loses it. “MY grandkids sit around all frekkin day texting to one another and I swear they must use that phrase 101 times, I can’t believe it!! And NOW I know… ahahahahaha… won’t they be surprised!”

The people in line at the grocery store could not contain themselves in their laughter  anymore and let out roars as this sweet woman cackled in seeming victory as though she finally felt she’d been granted one of life’s golden meanings. It was a very funny moment and something I am sure not many people will forget (nor will her grandkids I think!) Either way, it definitely gave me a big ole giggle, all thanks to my super wicked geek watch!
